What's New About Rimblades® Original?
Our goal with the reinvention of Rimblades® Original was to create the best alloy protection solution available on the market today. Our team has worked hard to improve our most loved product and bring you the best possible version!
The new and improved Rimblades® Original comes in brand new packaging that not only looks great, but for the first time is also colour coded to match the product inside. We understand that everyone has different preferences when it comes to car customisation, so you have a large selection of 9 colours to choose from, Red, Blue, Black, Silver, Graphite, White, Orange, Yellow, and Lime Green.
Rimblades® Original are manufactured from Santoprene by Exxon Mobil, which is from the TPV family of materials, so although technically a plastic, it has the look and feel of a high quality rubber. Santoprene is a very expensive raw material costing triple that of normal plastics. There is now a thin wire core running through the centre of the profile that prevents the product from ever stretching or shrinking.
The new version of Rimblades® Original is more durable and flexible than ever before, making it the perfect material for protecting your vehicles's rims from curb and debris damage. We have also made sure to maintain the easy installation process that our customers have grown to love, so as always you can easily apply Rimblades® Original to your vehicle all by yourself with no hassle.
Due to the unique patented profile, Rimblades® Original are compatible with a number of different wheel shapes, although they do require a continuous surface. Rimblades® Original require cutting to size for the application and are supplied in 4 x 2.1 metre lengths, fitting wheels up to and including 24” in diameter.

Standard & Deluxe Options
We are offering two different versions of the new Rimblades® Original, the Standard Edition and the Deluxe Edition.
The Standard Edition comes in at a reasonable £40 and includes everything you need to fully protect your alloy rims.
- 4 lengths of Rimblades® Original
- 4 x Rimblades® IPA cleaning wipes
- 4 x Rimblades® adhesion promoter wipes
The Deluxe Edition however, costs an extra £5 but includes additional features.
- 4 lengths of Rimblades® Original
- 4 x 3M IPA cleaning wipes
- 4 x 3M 06396 adhesion promoter sponges
- 4 x colour matched joint covers
- Rimblades® brand new joint cover adhesive
The joint covers are not a standard feature of the Rimblades® Original kit, they are only included in the Deluxe Edition. The joint covers finish the job, so it is well worth investing the extra £5 in order to cover any messy ends or uneven cuts.
The brand new Rimblades® adhesive included in the Deluxe Edition is specially designed for hard-to-bond materials, such as the Santoprene rubber we use to manufacture the Rimblades® Original. Installation Instructions
Rimblades® Original will NOT stick on wheels with silicone residue left from cleaning solutions. We recommend that you use our Tyre Shine Remover before installation, you can find it on our online store by clicking here.
- Thoroughly wash and dry your wheels before starting.
- Use the provided IPA wipes to clean the alloy rim.
- Use the provided adhesion promoter wipes to coat the alloy rim.
- Allow 5 minutes for the alloy rim to dry.
- Remove the backing tape on the Rimblades® Original and apply to the alloy rim, firm fitting pressure is required to ensure maximum bond.
- Mark with a pencil and cut where the ends meet.
- Apply firm pressure all the way around to ensure the Rimblades® have bonded securely.
- If you bought the Deluxe Edition you can now use the provided adhesive to bond the joint cover kit over the joins.
- Allow 24 hours before driving over 40mph to ensure maximum bond.
It is important to note that VHB tapes are pressure activated, so please ensure that you are using appropriate pressure when installing. VHB tapes take 72 hours to fully cure, but a useable bond is obtained immediately, we would suggest no highway speeds until fully cured.
Ongoing care:
- Wash wheels with a pH neutral wheel wash once Rimblades® are fitted to ensure longevity of the tape bond. We suggest Rimblades® Alloy Wheel Cleaner (acid free and pH neutral), you can find it on our online store by clicking here.
Helpful tips:
- Wear latex gloves or wash your hands thoroughly after handling the wipes that are included in the DIY kit.
- Do not install in wet or damp conditions.
- Any primer residue left on the wheels can be removed using the provided IPA wipes.
- Before installation, check that the wheel balance weights are not going to be in the way, they can sometimes be located close to the alloy rim.
